  • Session: C02C - Stakeholder Meeting on Care Policy - JPI WellCARE Project - (Session open to the public) - Wednesday 11:00-12:30 - Senate Hall

This session is a stakeholder event of the WELLCARE project funded by the Joint Programming Initiative “More Years Better Lives - The Potential and Challenges of Demographic Change”

The project examines the interaction between the welfare state, the market and the family in the provision of care throughout the life cycle. The consortium combines comparable EU data in a simulation model to project future care demand and supply, together with all welfare transfers, for four countries (Canada, the United Kingdom, Austria, and Spain). A public consultation on care policies has been launched as part of the project. In each of these countries, we aim to work with relevant stakeholders behind the care provision and promote evidence-based ideas to help manage the growing longevity of the population. Increasing the involvement of stakeholders and policy makers in the project to help develop policy and practice at local, national and EU levels is therefore an important goal of the project. This co-creation process will be continued in a new Horizon Europe-funded project, SUSTAINWELL, which will run from 2023 to 2027 and will extend the scope of WELLCARE to include all welfare state transfers and cash transfers provided by families to promote the well-being of dependent people. During this session, we will focus the discussion on early childhood and long-term care policies and present some results of the project.
